I have spent the last 18 years working and living in Africa, working with businesses to develop commercially viable models that benefit poor farmers, women, and refugees.
So why real estate investment?
I have always been interested in real estate, but I was held back by the image of real estate investors who have a total disregard for people, exploiting others for money, tenants getting evicted from properties, or having their rents raised to unaffordable levels.
However what if that wasn’t the case? What if real estate could work for people?
Moving back to Canada in 2021, I got connected to real estate investors who believed in caring for their tenants and being beneficial to the environmental (see: @Keyspire and @Synergy Mastermind). This opened my eyes to see that I could incorporate my passion for helping people and the planet into real estate.
As a result Beyond Bounds Properties was formed with a focus on creating real estate models that provide quality, affordable housing for people, places where people can call home, where they connect with each other, have access to green spaces, where living didn’t have to exploit the planet.
Going beyond means thinking outside the box so that there is still profit in real estate, but where there is also social value as well as value for our planet.
To that end, my skill set is the same. My work in emerging countries has been working with businesses to develop innovative models that work for people. With Beyond Bounds, the focus is also developing win-wins: for real estate investors as well as for people and the planet.
